US Envoys Arrive in Moscow
US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law, landed at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport on Friday afternoon, according to a TASS correspondent at the scene. Their flight touched down at 12:52 p.m. Moscow time (9:52 GMT).
Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and director general of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), met Witkoff and Kushner at the airport, as reported by TASS and Sputnik News.
Diplomatic Context
The visit follows remarks by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, in which he said Russia remains open to dialogue and that representatives of the White House are 'always welcome' in Russia, as cited by both outlets. Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that his envoys would present proposals to end the Ukrainian conflict, Sputnik reported.
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters before the talks that the Kremlin would report on Moscow's consultations with the US negotiators after they take place, according to TASS.
