Pakistan, Afghanistan officials meet in China’s Urumqi under trilateral mechanism
Senior officials from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China met in Urumqi for a week of informal talks under a trilateral mechanism, agreeing to avoid escalation in their armed conflict. The meetings, the first high-level diplomatic contact since Pakistan's February military operation, were hosted by China, which is pushing for confidence-building measures. Pakistan reiterated its demand for Kabul to take visible actions against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil.
