Ten African countries step up border controls due to Ebola in Democratic Republic of Congo

Ten countries in East, Central and Southern Africa have stepped up health controls at their borders in response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The six-month programme, led by ECSA-HC with World Bank support, covers 33 priority border crossings and 16 major trade corridors. Officials warn that pathogens do not respect national boundaries and that rapid population movement increases the risk of imported cases.
