Major Rishabh Singh Sambyal, who served as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to President Droupadi Murmu and became a familiar face at official engagements, has retired from the Indian Army after 12 years of service. The President of India's official Digital Library now lists him as "Maj Rishab Sambyal ), former ADC to the President," according to reports.
Sambyal's appearances alongside President Murmu drew widespread attention online, with social-media users calling him the "national crush." His career included leading the Jat Regiment contingent at the 2021 Republic Day Parade and serving with 4 Para Special Forces before taking up the ADC role at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Early Education and Training
Sambyal completed his schooling at Sainik School Kapurthala in Punjab, an institution focused on preparing students for armed forces careers. Reports state he cleared the UPSC-conducted NDA examination in 2013 and went through the Services Selection Board (SSB) selection process. He then joined the 133rd NDA Course and trained at the National Defence Academy from 2014 to 2017, according to publicly available profiles.
Military Career
After NDA, Sambyal moved to the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun for pre-commission training. He was commissioned into the Indian Army in 2018 as a Lieutenant and served with the Jat Regiment. In 2021, as Captain, he led the Jat Regiment contingent during the Republic Day Parade, which reportedly won the Best Marching Contingent Trophy. He was later associated with 4 Para (Special Forces).
His appointment as ADC to President Murmu brought him into the public eye, with photos and videos of him accompanying the President at official events widely shared online.
