Whatfix CEO Khadim Batti Passes Away
Khadim Batti, co-founder and chief executive of enterprise software company Whatfix, died on September 1 following a sudden cardiac arrest, as confirmed by the company in an official statement. He was 51, according to The Times of India.
Whatfix, headquartered in Bengaluru, said in a statement: "It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the unexpected passing of our beloved co-founder and CEO, Khadim Batti, who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest today." The company described Batti as a visionary leader whose "passion, clarity and conviction" shaped the organisation, adding that his legacy lies in the resilient company and committed leadership team he built. Whatfix also requested that the media and public respect the privacy of Batti's family during this difficult time.
A Career in Enterprise Software
Batti co-founded Whatfix with Vara Kumar Namburu in 2014. The company developed a digital adoption platform that helps enterprises improve how employees use software, providing on-screen guidance, training and analytics. Under Batti's leadership, Whatfix grew into a global enterprise software company with operations across India, the US, Europe, Singapore and Australia, according to The Times of India. In 2024, the company raised $125 million in funding led by Warburg Pincus with participation from SoftBank Vision Fund 2, valuing it at around $900 million. By November 2025, Whatfix had more than 900 employees.
Before founding Whatfix, Batti and Kumar worked together at Huawei Technologies India, where they spent nearly a decade building large-scale technology products. They left around 2010 to start an enterprise focused on search engine optimisation for small businesses, and a feature from that product eventually became the foundation for Whatfix. Batti also co-founded SearchEnabler, serving as its CEO before launching Whatfix, and held positions including Delivery Head for DPI & BI Solutions at Huawei Technologies India.
He held a Master's degree in Information Technology from the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bombay.
Community Tributes
Batti was an active member of India's SaaS and AI founder communities, serving on the governing council of SaaSBoomi and as a founding member of AIBoomi, a community focused on India's AI-first product ecosystem. Avinash Raghava, CEO and founding volunteer at SaaSBoomi, expressed shock and grief over Batti's passing, saying he was "deeply shocked and saddened." Raghava described Batti as "a wonderful friend" and "a generous mentor" who always made time for founders and the wider startup ecosystem. "We have lost someone very special today," Raghava said. "My heart goes out to his family, the entire Whatfix team, and everyone who was close to him."
