Relationship Status Revealed at Reunion
During the Love Island USA season eight reunion, Melanie Moreno and Sincere Rhea told host Andy Cohen that they are not boyfriend and girlfriend. "We are not boyfriend and girlfriend," Melanie said, adding, "We are kind of just seeing what happens in the outside world." The couple, who were among the season's most talked-about relationships, confirmed they are still dating but without an official title.
Sincere echoed Melanie's sentiment, explaining that because they met in an unconventional way, moving forward feels different. "We're on the same exact page as far as, you know, being — it's not like we met each other at a bar," he said. "Being able to just take it slow and really get to understand each other outside of here."
Taking It Day by Day
Sincere, in an interview with Access Hollywood on the day of the reunion, said he and Melanie are "still taking it really slow day by day." He described their focus as "understanding each other outside of the villa and how we operate," adding that he's "looking forward to turning this ship around" and "putting one foot in front of the other."
Melanie also addressed trust during the reunion. When asked if she trusts Sincere, she paused before saying, "I think he's building that trust. I think we're building it. We're seeing how it goes."
A Sister's Support
In an unseen clip from when islanders got their phones back in Fiji, Melanie had a video call with her sister. During the call, her sister Stephany questioned why Melanie would want to continue a relationship with Sincere after the pain she'd been through. Melanie defended their decision, saying, "We're not leaving him in the villa? We're leaving the door open. We're just figuring it out." She added that if she were to leave Sincere, she wants it to be her own decision, not influenced by others. Ultimately, her sister supported the relationship.
What Comes Next
The reunion was filmed in early August, and the couple's status has evolved since then. In a subsequent interview with Vulture, Melanie said, "We're not exclusive; we're not boyfriend-girlfriend. I'm also not in a rush to get that title. I know how he feels about me, but I think I just want to take it day by day."
Melanie and Sincere were seen together in Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago, keeping things relatively private compared to other couples from the season. Their latest comments suggest they remain committed to figuring things out at their own pace.
