Kashi Rudras seal playoffs with convincing win over Meerut

Kashi Rudras, the defending champions, clinched a playoff berth in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League with a 56-run victory over the table-topping Meerut Mavericks on Tuesday. Playing at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium, the Rudras posted 175/4 in their 20 overs before bowling out Meerut for 119 in 19.2 overs, according to a press release.

Captain Karan Sharma led the batting with a composed 57 off 40 balls, including six fours and three sixes. Upendra Yadav provided the late impetus with an unbeaten 57 off just 29 deliveries, hitting four fours and five sixes to power the Rudras to their imposing total.

Bowlers deliver under pressure

Kartik Yadav spearheaded the bowling attack, taking 3/12 in his four overs and being named Player of the Match. Rishabh Rajput backed him up with figures of 3/13, while Atal Bihari Rai contributed 2/20 as the Rudras kept taking wickets and never allowed Meerut to build a partnership. The Mavericks' chase stumbled early, with opener Swastik Chikara falling for a duck, and they never recovered.

Speaking after the match, Kartik Yadav said: "We wanted to finish the league stage on a strong note and show what this team is capable of. The plan was to attack from the start, bowl in the right areas and keep taking wickets." He added, "Everyone contributed today, and that is what makes this team special. We have been through difficult moments, but we have stayed together. Now we are in the playoffs, and we believe we can go all the way."
