UP STF Arrests Candidate in Bluetooth Cheating Case During UPSSSC Exam

Lucknow, August 25 – The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UPSTF) arrested a candidate red-handed at an examination center in Lucknow on Sunday, August 23, for allegedly using a Bluetooth device to cheat during the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) graduate-level main examination. The accused has been identified as Brijesh Kumar Yadav, son of Dan Bahadur Yadav, a resident of Prayagraj, originally from Jaunpur.

According to the STF, Brijesh was apprehended at the Dayanand Kanya Inter College examination center in Sector-C, Mahanagar, Lucknow. He had entered the exam hall with a sophisticated SIM-based Bluetooth device concealed in his underwear and the pocket of a specially stitched vest. The device was intended to receive answers from a 'solver' stationed outside.

During a search, the STF recovered a Bluetooth device and associated equipment, a mobile phone, an admit card, an Aadhaar card, an OMR sheet, and several original question papers from the accused.

Alleged Payment and Racketeer Involvement

Interrogation revealed that Brijesh had paid an advance of Rs 10 lakh to Ramesh Chandra Patel, a resident of Prayagraj, to ensure he passed the exam. According to the STF, Patel arranged the cheating setup and provided the special vest and the Bluetooth device. The STF said Patel has previously operated similar cheating rackets in various competitive examinations.

Investigation and Wider Network

The STF headquarters had received information about the "solver gang" prior to the examination. Acting on a tip-off and with the cooperation of the exam center administrator, the accused was apprehended. The STF is now investigating the broader cheating network and has launched a search for other accused individuals, including Ramesh Chandra Patel. Further legal action is being taken in the matter.

Previous Related Case

Earlier in July, the UP STF had busted a cheating racket in the UPSSSC Assistant Boring Technician Main exam, arresting 13 persons from Varanasi and Prayagraj. That exam was held on July 12. The current case highlights the ongoing challenge examination authorities face in preventing the use of concealed electronic devices and organized cheating methods during competitive examinations.
