Ukraine carried out coordinated drone attacks on Russian energy infrastructure across multiple regions overnight, setting fires at oil facilities and causing damage in several areas, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia is preparing a new large-scale assault on his country.

The most significant strike hit Taganrog in Russia's Rostov Oblast, where a major port fire broke out after drones struck a tanker, fuel tank, and administrative building, according to Russia's RIA Novosti state media agency, as reported by Al Jazeera. Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar confirmed the attack on Max, a Russian state-backed messaging app, writing: "A tanker, a fuel tank, and an administrative building caught fire at the port of Taganrog as a result of a drone attack." He said preliminary information indicated no casualties at the port.

In Taganrog, two civilians were injured when a drone struck a private home, as reported by Governor Slyusar, per Al Jazeera. "Tonight, civilians were injured again as a result of an air strike on Taganrog," Slyusar said. "According to preliminary information, two people were injured when a drone struck a private home. Medics are providing assistance and doing everything necessary."

In the village of Grekovo-Timofeyevka, a gas pipe in a house caught fire after being damaged by a drone, and residents were evacuated with no casualties, Slyusar added. In Botsmanovo, in the Neklinovsky District, windows in two houses were damaged, also without injuries.

The Hindu reported that fire broke out at an oil depot in Armavir, Krasnodar Krai, and that the Volgograd oil refinery was shut down after drone strikes. The Hindu also noted that Ukraine has expanded its mid- and long-range strike capabilities, deploying domestically developed drone and missile technology to battle Russia's four-year-old invasion.

President Zelenskyy, writing on X, said: "Another facility of Russia's oil industry has been reached — Armavir," noting that Armavir is "500 kilometers from our state border." He added, "We are rightfully bringing the war back to where it came from."

The Hindu also reported that a Ukrainian drone struck the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, and that the International Atomic Energy Agency has expressed alarm about the plant.

Al Jazeera quoted President Zelenskyy warning of a new large-scale assault on Ukraine. The Hindu reported that Russia has used long-range ballistic missiles to damage Ukraine's power grid and hammer its cities, and that the Ukrainian capital is bracing for further heavy bombardments after the Russian Foreign Ministry said earlier this week it would carry out "systemic strikes" on Kyiv.
