Two civilians were killed and nine others were injured in Ukrainian attacks on the Kherson Region during the past day, according to the region's governor, Vladimir Saldo. He made the statement on the Max national messenger, as reported by TASS.
Coverage Comparison
TASS reported the governor's account in two separate updates. In one report dated June 21, Saldo said that during the past 24 hours, two civilians died and nine received wounds as a result of what he described as 'the Kiev regime's terrorist attacks' on the region.
An earlier TASS dispatch, dated June 13, had put the toll for a 24-hour period at one civilian killed and five injured. That report attributed the figures to the same governor, citing a drone strike on a truck in Novovladimirovka that killed a man born in 1978, as well as other drone attacks on vehicles in settlements across the region.
Key Claims
According to the June 21 TASS report, Governor Saldo said that during the past 24 hours, two civilians died and nine received wounds as a result of the attacks. The report did not specify the circumstances of those casualties.
The June 13 TASS report provided details on the earlier set of casualties: a man born in 1978 was killed in a drone strike on a truck in Novovladimirovka in the Golopristansky district. Several other people were injured in separate incidents, including a man born in 1974 in Razdolnoye, a man born in 1967 in Velikiye Kopani, a man born in 1962 in Golaya Pristan, and two men born in 1963 and 1982 in Chaplinka. The governor was quoted as saying that the Ukrainian military also attacked communities in eight districts of the Kherson Region.
Child Casualty in Genichesk
A separate TASS report detailed a drone attack on apartment buildings in the city of Genichesk that occurred late on May 31. According to Governor Saldo, a child born in 2020 was killed, and 11 people were injured, with the injured in fair condition. The report said the attack targeted buildings on Kovalenko Brothers Street. Genichesk District Administration Head Yulia Semyakina told TASS that four residential buildings and up to eight cars were damaged. Saldo also said the drone attacks caused power shortages, with eleven municipalities left without power, according to a spokesperson for the regional electric grid company.
In response to the attack, authorities in the Kherson Region cancelled all events marking International Children's Day, as announced by the governor's spokesman Vladimir Vasilenko. Semyakina told TASS that a temporary accommodation center with a capacity of 30 beds had been set up for those affected, and she said the Kiev regime continues attempts to intimidate local residents.
