Trump Envoys Witkoff and Kushner to Visit Ukraine, Reports Say

US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner are expected to visit Ukraine in the coming days, according to a report in the Financial Times (FT) cited by TASS. The article follows an interview with Trump, who stated that his attention is focused on ending Russia's war in Ukraine.

"Very simply put, we want the war in Ukraine with Russia ended. I’m not looking for missiles. We’re looking for peace," Trump told the FT, as quoted by TASS.

The report indicates that the two envoys, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, would visit Ukraine for the first time in the coming days. This development comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.

Zelensky Confirms Phone Call with Trump's Envoys

Earlier, on July 22, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed that he had held a phone conversation with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. In a Telegram post, Zelensky described the call as "a good and important conversation on how to activate diplomacy."

"Our teams remain in close contact, particularly in order to continue work on everything that has just been discussed," Zelensky added.

Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, citing sources familiar with the matter, wrote that the sides discussed ideas for resuming diplomatic efforts to end the Ukrainian conflict, according to TASS.

Possible Visit to Russia

On July 28, a TASS source reported that a visit to Russia by Witkoff and Kushner could take place in the coming weeks, though there is no certainty at the moment. The source said, "Such a possibility exists," but added, "There are no specifics or certainty at the moment."

Earlier, Western media outlets had reported that Witkoff and Kushner could visit Kiev within the next two weeks, a claim that appears consistent with the later FT report.

Trump-Zelensky Meeting Described as 'Very Practical'

Also on July 28, Newsmax journalist Nana Sajaya reported, citing a source involved in a Trump-Zelensky meeting at the White House, that the meeting was "very practical." Topics discussed included solutions to bring the war to an end, a renewed commitment to licensing as a long-term goal, and having Witkoff and Kushner come to Kiev to "build the new momentum for diplomatic efforts," Sajaya wrote on X.
