Makers Appeal Against Spoilers Ahead of Release

With 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups' set to hit theatres on August 26, the film's production house KVN Productions has made a public appeal to audiences: please do not record scenes inside theatres or post story details online. As reported by Times Now, the makers shared a note on social media asking fans to protect the theatrical experience, emphasizing that the film represents years of work by its technicians, artists, and crew. The team also thanked audiences for their response before the release.

Yash and Kiara Advani, the film's leads, shared the same post, urging viewers to keep the story and major moments under wraps so that everyone can enjoy the first-time experience on the big screen. The appeal comes amid concerns that clips and spoilers often spread rapidly on social media within minutes of a film's release.

Additionally, a Bengaluru court has granted an interim injunction restricting the spread of false and defamatory content about the film, according to the same report.

Advance Bookings Show Strong Demand

The spoiler appeal arrives as booking numbers indicate significant audience interest. Advance bookings for 'Toxic' opened on August 21. According to Sacnilk, the film crossed Rs 64 crore in pre-release sales, including blocked seats. A later update from The Times of India put the Day 1 advance booking gross at Rs 64.85 crore as of 6 am on August 26.

While the film is targeting a release across multiple territories, the final screen count has not been confirmed. The Times of India noted the film has reportedly been made on a budget of around Rs 500 crore. The film's release comes more than a year after its originally planned date of April 10, 2025, reaching theatres 503 days later.

Early Reactions Mixed on Twitter

As early screenings began, reactions on Twitter showed a divided audience. Several viewers praised the film's technical presentation, production design, and Yash's screen presence. Yash appears in a dual role in the film, and his performance drew particular notice, as The Times of India reported.

One viewer wrote, "Yash looks terrific and his charm carries the film, backed by excellent cinematography, production design and stylish action. That's it!! Story-wise, there's barely anything so far." The user added that while the film is "visually impressive," it is "very much STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE."

Other reactions drew comparisons to the 'KGF' franchise, another Yash starrer. One viewer critiqued the first half, saying it had a "Heavy KGF Hangover! Full of violence and style, but with little substance." Another went further, writing, "2nd half started should've named it as KGF3 instead of #Toxic."

Criticism was primarily directed at the screenplay, a perceived lack of emotional connection, and the overuse of motion capture. One viewer rated the film 2.5/5 and called it "regressive" in its portrayal of women.
