Tottenham make loan enquiry for Chelsea's Mudryk
Tottenham have made a loan enquiry for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, according to reports. The 25-year-old Ukrainian is available after his doping ban was resolved last month, and he has not played competitively since November 2024.
Mudryk returned to action for Chelsea during pre-season but has not featured in any of the Blues' three opening matches against Fulham, Luton and Brighton. Chelsea's hierarchy have decided that Mudryk should be allowed to seek opportunities elsewhere, with head coach Xabi Alonso unable to guarantee him regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge this season.
According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, Chelsea's bitter rivals Spurs have been alerted to the situation and enquiries have been made with a view to taking the Ukraine international on loan. Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi previously worked with Mudryk at Shakhtar Donetsk and is keen to be reunited with the forward in north London as the club scour the market for further attacking reinforcements.
The club have already bolstered their frontline with the addition of Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City – the latter joining on a season-long loan – this summer. Spurs have been linked with the likes of Cody Gakpo and Iliman Ndiaye in recent weeks and are determined to strengthen on the left wing before Tuesday's transfer deadline.
Leeds were credited with a strong interest in Mudryk earlier this month but Chelsea reportedly knocked back an approach which would have seen the attacker move to Elland Road. Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg have been mooted as another possibility for Mudryk, while a report from The Sun suggests Sunderland have also been mentioned as a potential destination.
Mudryk joined Chelsea in a high-profile £89million move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 (The Sun reports the fee as £88million) and has managed a total of ten goals and 11 assists in all competitions for the Blues. He was banned by the Football Association for violating anti-doping rules between December 2024 and July this year, and was handed an initial four-year suspension before all charges were dropped.
The Sun adds that Mudryk has a good relationship with De Zerbi, having worked under the Italian at Shakhtar, and quotes De Zerbi as previously describing Mudryk as "like a son" and "a top player".
Tottenham are also in negotiations for Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo as a possible replacement for Kevin Danso, who wants to leave and is in talks to join Sunderland, according to The Sun. Several outgoings are expected at Spurs before the deadline, with Pape Matar Sarr close to a loan to Juventus, Mikey Moore set to complete a loan to Bundesliga side Cologne, and left-back Souza expected to join Porto on loan, the same report states.
