At least three Palestinians have been killed and 15 others wounded in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, medical sources told Al Jazeera. The strikes occurred on Monday, with one person killed in a drone attack on a motorcycle in southern Gaza City's Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood, and another dying after an attack on a police post near the at-Twam roundabout in northwest Gaza City. Israeli military vehicles fired towards homes east of the Bureij refugee camp and near the Halawa displacement camp in eastern Jabalia, but no casualties were reported.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, three members of a family – a father, a mother, and their six-year-old daughter – were killed in an Israeli air attack on an apartment in Deir el-Balah. Palestinian health officials said another child was the only survivor, recovered after Civil Defence teams extinguished a fire caused by the strike. The Israeli army later confirmed it had carried out the attack, claiming it had targeted a Hamas fighter.
Other Israeli air attacks hit a rehabilitation centre in Gaza City and a park in Khan Younis where hundreds of displaced families had been sheltering.
In its daily casualty update, the Ministry of Health in Gaza said that over the latest 24-hour reporting period, at least 12 bodies were brought to hospitals, one person died of wounds, and 18 were wounded.
Broader Context
Israeli attacks have continued despite the US-brokered ceasefire agreed between Israel and Hamas in October. While most ground fighting has subsided, Israeli air attacks have killed more than 1,100 people, including at least 275 children. Overall, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, and at least 21,000 children are among the dead. Israel has dropped approximately 223,000 tonnes of explosives on Gaza during the war.
Al Jazeera's Hind Khoudary, reporting from Gaza City, said: "Children are being killed on a daily basis in Gaza, and if they survive air strikes, many die of their wounds because of the lack of medical supplies and hospitals operating with severely reduced capacity."
Additionally, Israel has expanded the territory under its control inside Gaza, moving concrete blocks to within about 200 metres of Salah al-Din Street.
