Kremlin: No Concrete Plans Yet for Witkoff's Moscow Visit, Contacts Ongoing

MOSCOW — The Kremlin has indicated that no specific arrangements have been made for a visit to Moscow by US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, while confirming that ongoing contacts between the two sides continue.

Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, according to a TASS correspondent, that "there are no clear plans yet, but we expect this format to continue." He added that Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov remains in constant contact with Witkoff: "We are in constant contact with him. Ushakov is in constant contact with him."

Earlier, in a separate statement, Peskov said that a trip to Moscow by representatives of the US administration, including Witkoff, is not currently being prepared. "No, there is no real prospect of that for now," he told reporters when asked whether there was a realistic possibility of such a visit. Commenting on remarks by US President Donald Trump that he was ready to send representatives to Moscow, Peskov described it as "rather a hypothetical statement," confirming that no such plans exist at present.

In other remarks, Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov told the Izvestia newspaper that Witkoff has repeatedly expressed a desire to come to Moscow alongside his partner Jared Kushner. "Witkoff several times expressed desire to come to Moscow together with his partner [Jared] Kushner. We discussed this topic during contacts with him in particular, but dates have not yet been determined," Ushakov said, adding that the timing of any trip would be decided jointly by Moscow and Washington.

When asked by Life journalist Alexander Yumashev about when to expect a visit by the US negotiators, Peskov responded with a smile: "Call the White House and ask." He added: "As soon as they are ready, we will be glad to see them and we, indeed, wait for their arrival. As soon as time allows them to do that."

Ushakov has earlier expressed confidence that "sooner or later" Witkoff and Kushner would come to Moscow and that dialogue would continue.
