Secret Marriage Exposed on The Traitors Ireland

The second episode of The Traitors Ireland delivered a major twist as contestants Diego, 40, and Denis, 39, revealed they are married and have been partners for 11 years. The pair managed to keep their relationship hidden from fellow contestants, a secret that came to light during a game of musical chairs.

According to The Irish Sun, Diego told viewers: "The thing the other players don't know is that I have quite a lot of experience dancing with Denis, because he is my husband of 11 years." The couple, both from Cork, were the final two remaining in the challenge and won shields granting them immunity.

RSVP Live reported that Diego and Pete were still holding hands after securing their seat in one round, but immediately let go once noticed. The married pair later found a quiet spot in the castle and embraced, with Diego chuckling: "Nobody has a clue!"

Two Contestants Eliminated

The episode also saw the elimination of two contestants. Vocal coach Emma, 42, from Dublin, was murdered by the Traitors before breakfast, while Edelle, 44, a Software Operations Lead, was banished at the first roundtable.

Emma expressed her frustration after her elimination, saying: "I knew it. First one out? I'm raging. I don't know what I would have done differently. At least I got to come into the castle and play the game for a day."

Traitor Recruitment and Roundtable Drama

Host Siobhan McSweeney had selected three initial Traitors: Fionula, 61, from Cork; Paraic K, 33, a assistant professor from Kildare; and Carla, 27, an early years educator from Dublin. In this episode, they recruited Edelle as the fourth Traitor, with the trio agreeing she was a "good, strong person" for the role, as reported by RSVP Live.

Edelle was given the power to choose the first contestant to be murdered and selected Emma, who had been under consideration alongside Denis and Kayleigh.

Suspicions grew around Edelle and Paraic K when Irish Defence Force member Pete noticed them acting peculiarly. RSVP Live reported that Edelle squeezed Paraic's arm, leading Pete to suspect their connection. In contrast, no suspicion fell on Diego and Denis despite their close moments.

At the first roundtable, Edelle and DJ were neck and neck with eight votes each, while Pauric O received one vote. The outcome caught viewers off guard, with many anticipating Fionula would be exposed or Paraic K would crumble under pressure, as noted by Irish Mirror. In the end, Traitor Edelle was voted out, a result described by Irish Mirror as a "brilliant result" for the Faithful.

Viewer Reactions and What's Next

The Irish Sun reported that viewer reactions included Sasha writing on X: "This is SO juicy." The Traitors then whittled down their choice for a fourth Traitor to "dangerous" Pauric O, Sean C, and Laura, according to Irish Mirror.

Siobhan warned the remaining Faithful that their victory had brought them little respite, as reported by The Irish Sun. The Traitors Ireland continues every Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player, with The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked airing immediately after.
