Ukraine drone strike on Moscow Region leaves one dead and dozens wounded, governor reports
A civilian was killed and at least 37 others were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on the Moscow Region overnight, according to regional governor Andrey Vorobyov. The official, writing on the Max social media platform, said the death occurred in Elektrostal, where the victim succumbed to injuries sustained in the strike.
Vorobyov's account, carried by Russian state news agency TASS, described the injured as including a child and a Chinese national. He said seven people sought medical assistance in Domodedovo, with one man refusing hospitalization, and six others taken to Domodedovo Hospital. Among those hospitalized were a 74-year-old man with multiple shrapnel injuries, a 53-year-old man with an open thigh fracture, a 26-year-old man with a shin injury, and three other men with shrapnel injuries. The 74-year-old was being prepared for transfer to a Moscow medical center, the governor added.
An 11-year-old girl was diagnosed with an acute stress reaction but did not require hospitalization, Vorobyov said. Two women, aged 66 and 38, were injured in Podolsk; one received outpatient treatment, while the other refused hospitalization.
In a separate post, the governor reported that eight people were in serious condition following the attack. He said response teams were working at all affected sites and that authorities would provide necessary assistance to the injured.
The reports did not specify whether the drone strike was part of a larger coordinated attack on Russian territory, nor did they mention any claim of responsibility from Ukrainian officials. The governor's statements represent the only source of information currently available about the incident.
