Bollywood actor Sunny Deol on Sunday marked 30 years of his 1996 romantic action film 'Jeet', sharing a special post on Instagram. As reported by The Times of India, Deol's post read: "30 years of Jeet. Karan, his love, his anger, his sacrifice -- a character that still lives in my heart. Thank you for all the love you have given this film for 30 years." The film, written and directed by Raj Kanwar and backed by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, also featured Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Tabu, and Amrish Puri in crucial roles. 'Jeet' revolves around a ruthless hitman, Karan (played by Sunny Deol), who falls in love with Kajal (played by Karisma Kapoor). Her marriage to her childhood friend Raju (played by Salman Khan) makes him lock horns with his crime boss, Gajraj (played by Amrish Puri).
Released on 23 August 1996, 'Jeet' turned out to be a massive hit at the box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year. The film was even remade in Bengali with the title 'Laal Badshah'. In addition to 'Jeet', Sunny Deol has collaborated with Karisma Kapoor for the movie 'Ajay'. Directed by Suneel Darshan, the project also reached the audience in 1996.
Meanwhile, Sunny Deol recently graced the screen with the period drama 'Batwara 1947'. Helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the project also featured Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, and Karan Deol in key roles. As per The Times of India, the music for 'Batwara 1947' was composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The film is set during the 1947 Partition, following a family whose lives change as violence, fear, and forced migration affect communities that had lived together. 'Batwara 1947' is inspired by Asghar Wajahat's drama 'Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai'.
