A Marriage Proposal of Her Own Making

Suchitra Mohanlal has opened up about her decision to marry actor Mohanlal, revealing that she was the one who first expressed interest in him, as reported by Malayala Manorama. In an interview with Can Channel Media, she recalled that their families were closely acquainted when she first met him at a wedding. She approached him as a fan, took a photograph with him—though she noted she never received a copy—and later told her family she wanted to marry him. There was no opposition, and she suggested the proposal be taken forward through actor Sukumari, whom her father knew well.

Suchitra's father offered a caution. He noted that Mohanlal's shooting schedules could keep him away for days and advised her to be prepared. He also told her she should think carefully about the decision, warning that he would not take her back home if she returned upset about the difficulties of being married to an actor. Despite these warnings, Suchitra said she has no complaints about Mohanlal as a husband.

Pranav's Independent Path

In separate comments carried by The Times of India, Suchitra Mohanlal discussed her son Pranav Mohanlal's travel and career choices, offering insight into his independent approach. She revealed that Pranav is currently in Chennai and is expected to travel to London soon, though his return is uncertain. "He is in Chennai now. He will be leaving for London the next day," she said, adding that he mentioned a music festival there but did not know when he would return. "He takes a one-way ticket, you know. (Laughs.) That’s how he travels," she added.

On the professional front, Suchitra said Pranav has committed to a new movie, but she does not know its title or details. "I don’t look into these things anymore," she said. She also admitted she was unaware of his association with the film 'Dies Irae', directed by Rahul Sadasivan, until recently, and does not know how the two connected. "It’s time for him to handle all these things himself," she quipped.
