James Jordan has opened up about his new life following his separation from wife Ola, revealing he now lives alone in a one-bedroom flat and spends his evenings watching television.
The former Strictly Come Dancing professional appeared on ITV's This Morning on Wednesday (August 19) to promote his new podcast Manopause with Brendan Cole, but the conversation soon turned personal.
Speaking to hosts Angela Scanlon and Craig Doyle, James, 48, admitted the past few months have been difficult. "It's been a tough few years," he said. "I moved out a few months ago. I find it hard to talk about, and I'm not going to speak about it too much because I don't think it's fair when she's not here as well."
He also described his current living situation, saying he spends his evenings "sitting alone in a one-bed flat watching TV." The dancer added that he needs time to himself to "find myself again," acknowledging that some might view his actions as selfish.
The couple, who began dating in 1999 and married in 2003, announced their separation in a joint statement on social media, describing the decision as "incredibly painful and emotional." The statement revealed that James had moved out of the family home some time ago, and that he had been struggling with his mental health.
"I've been struggling more than I've let people see," the statement read, "and I'm taking the time I need to focus on getting myself into a healthier place, both for myself and for Ella." The couple have a six-year-old daughter, Ella, who remains in the family home.
James has also removed his wedding band, according to reports.
Meanwhile, the announcement of his new podcast with fellow former Strictly star Brendan Cole drew a mixed response on social media. One user joked: "Women can't even have the menopause without men hijacking it for themselves with their mid life crisis rebranding." Another questioned the podcast's online presence, writing: "They've got awful SEO. Seems to be at least five other podcasts called Manopause."
The podcast, which explores the highs, lows and challenges of the male experience as men get older, was the main reason for James's appearance on This Morning.
Brendan also spoke about supporting his friend through the difficult period, revealing that he has been "checking in" with James every day.
