Investigation underway after wheelchair theft

Police in St. Cloud, Florida, are looking for the person who stole a disabled dog's wheelchair. Baby, a hospice resident at The Pittie Party of Central Florida, relies on the wheelchair to move, and the rescue said she cannot walk without it.

The rescue posted on Facebook on Saturday, asking, "WHY??? What kind of person steals a disabled, senior dog's wheelchair?" The group continued, "Somebody walked up to the wheelchair that was on our porch and stole it. Now she has nothing."

The wheelchair is a specialized device that costs about $800. The rescue is raising funds to buy a replacement, and according to the group, Baby has no way to go potty on her own and holding her is very difficult without the chair.

"We are heartbroken that someone would do this. So upsetting," the rescue said in a statement.

The St. Cloud Police Department is investigating the theft and is urging anyone with tips or information to call 407-891-6700.
