Napoli's McTominay to undergo heart procedure after arrhythmia diagnosis

Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay will undergo a corrective procedure for an irregular heartbeat, the Serie A club announced on Tuesday. The 29-year-old Scotland international was diagnosed with a "mild benign arrhythmia" following his early exit in Sunday's 2-1 Serie A defeat to Como.

The club said in a statement: "Following the onset of a mild benign arrhythmia, Scott McTominay will undergo corrective surgery using a cardiac arrhythmia ablation in the coming days. He will be available again after the international break." A pulsed field ablation (PFA) is a minimally invasive technique used to treat heart arrhythmias, as reported by the Associated Press.

McTominay's absence will extend through September, causing him to miss several Napoli fixtures including the Champions League showdown with Arsenal next week, as well as Serie A matches against Inter, Bologna and Fiorentina, according to Yardbarker.
