A Memphis-Shelby County Schools employee has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing a delivery driver with a pen in a dispute over a late delivery, according to Memphis Police.

Braxton Stewart, 36, was taken into custody following the incident, which occurred just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday at American Way Middle School, as detailed in court documents. The victim told investigators he arrived late for a delivery at the school, which sparked a heated argument with Stewart, according to the reports.

Details of the incident

The confrontation escalated into a physical fight during which Stewart allegedly stabbed the driver at least six times with a pen, police reports state. The victim suffered four puncture wounds to his back, one to his neck, and one between his eyes.

He was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition, according to the reports.

Court appearance

Stewart was scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday morning.
