A New Trailer for the Live-Action 'Street Fighter' Film

On September 2, Paramount Pictures, Legendary, and Capcom unveiled the second trailer for the live-action "Street Fighter" movie. The trailer centers on the rematch between Ryu, a once-top fighter who has distanced himself from combat, and Ken Masters, who is aiming for the top spot once again. As reported by InvenGlobal, the trailer offers a glimpse into how Ryu, determined never to step onto the path of fighting again, accepts Chun-Li's offer and becomes drawn into the conspiracy surrounding the World Warrior Tournament.

The Manila Times also covered the trailer's release, describing it as revealing the complicated relationship between Ryu and Ken. According to that report, Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken (Noah Centineo) had a falling-out before the events of the film. Ryu lives a quiet and isolated life, while Ken becomes active in martial arts to prove that he is better than his "brother." Ryu's quiet life is interrupted by the arrival of Chun-Li (Callina Liang), who warns him that Ken is in danger and that he must enter the World Warrior Tournament to save him.

A Grounded Look at a 1993 Setting

The video shows the 1993 setting while offering a grounded look at how the original video game's exaggerated elements were brought to the screen, according to InvenGlobal. The trailer features Dhalsim's arms stretching out just like in the game, and E. Honda's signature move, the Hundred Hand Slap, displaying its classic destructive power as his palms shatter a distant wall. Additional details include Guile's signature flat-top hair—which he periodically combs back—along with Blanka's green skin and Akuma's imposing presence, all remaining faithful to the original designs.

Both fighters, with the help of Chun-Li, must face several worthy challengers, including E. Honda, Vega, Dhalsim, Guile, Blanka and many more, as detailed by The Manila Times. The trailer also offers a glimpse of David Dastmalchian's M. Bison and the bloodthirsty Akuma, played by WWE World Champion Roman Reigns.

Cast and Production Background

Alongside Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo, the film stars Callina Liang as Chun-Li. InvenGlobal reports that popular artists 50 Cent and Orville Peck play Balrog and Vega, respectively, while WWE Superstar Joe "Roman Reigns" Anoa'i plays Akuma, and Cody Rhodes plays Guile. The film's path to production has been eventful. According to InvenGlobal, the project faced a rocky production path, including original directors Danny and Michael Philippou stepping down to focus on another film, and reports of an indefinite release delay. After Paramount Pictures signed a three-year distribution deal with Legendary in September 2025, Street Fighter was confirmed as its first project and is now set for release this October.
