Kyrgyzstan views the Russian market as one of the key destinations for promoting its products, President Sadyr Japarov said in an address to participants of the 8th Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum, which opened on August 6 in Cholpon-Ata, a resort town on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. The forum, attended by representatives from dozens of companies from both countries, also featured an agreement to create a unified mobile operator and drew more than 1,000 participants, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During the forum, Russia and Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement to establish a unified mobile operator, according to Artyom Novikov, Chairman of the Board of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund. "An agreement has been signed between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation to establish a seamless mobile operator, which will significantly simplify travel and communication for citizens of both countries," he said, calling it "one of the important initiatives within the framework of the interstate digital agenda."
Novikov also said that this year's forum would significantly surpass the one held last year in terms of the number of documents signed and the total value of contracts. Last year's forum saw agreements worth around $270 million signed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a video message to participants of the 8th Russian-Kyrgyz Economic Forum and the 12th Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference, thanked Japarov for his attention to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation. "I would like to express my appreciation to Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov for his personal support of these important initiatives and for the attention he pays to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries," Putin said. Putin noted that more than 1,000 representatives from both countries gathered at Issyk-Kul, including regional heads, government officials, business, academic and public sector representatives, as well as development institutions. "In other words, these are the people who are making a practical contribution to advancing the full range of Russian-Kyrgyz strategic partnership and allied relations, primarily in the economic sphere," he added.
The forum covers a wide range of topics, including expanding trade, investment and industrial cooperation, as well as collaboration in agriculture, transport, digitalization and tourism. Putin also mentioned that a joint meeting of the Russian-Kyrgyz and Kyrgyz-Russian Business Councils is scheduled, along with an off-site session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
