A Modest Beginning
When Hanuman Ansh released on August 7, 2026, it did so with little fanfare. The devotional drama, based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, opened to just Rs 10 lakh on Day 1 — a figure that gave no hint of what was to come. Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the film stars Shobhinav Satyaa in the titular role, alongside Chandan Anand, Nikhil Dubey, Udaysinh Rajput, Purnima Tiwari, and Mannish Chaudhary.
A Slow Start
The first two weeks offered little encouragement. According to box-office figures reported by trade website Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 08 crore in its opening week and Rs 40 lakh in its second week, bringing its 14-day India net total to just Rs 48 crore. At that stage, a short theatrical run seemed likely.
The Turning Point
The turnaround began in the third week. Positive audience reactions and recommendations on social media gradually drew more viewers to theatres. The film collected Rs 40 crore in its third week alone — a remarkable jump compared with its first two weeks combined. This resurgence established Hanuman Ansh as a genuine sleeper hit rather than a conventional opening-weekend success.
A Record Day 24
The fourth week has been even more extraordinary. After collecting Rs 25 crore on its fourth Friday and Rs 25 crore on Saturday, the film posted its highest single-day collection yet on Sunday, Day 24, earning an estimated Rs 75 crore net. That represents a 8 percent increase from the previous day. In other words, the film made more money in that single Sunday than it did in its entire first week.
The film played across 5,363 shows in India on Day 24, taking its India gross collection to Rs 33 crore and its India net total to Rs 13 crore, according to trade website Sacnilk.
An Unlikely Success Story
What makes these numbers particularly striking is the context. Made on a reported budget of around Rs 2 crore, the film's India net collection now stands at roughly 20 times its production cost. The success was not driven by a major star, an enormous marketing campaign, or a massive opening — it was powered by word-of-mouth and audience response.
The film's official synopsis reads: "A grieving boy seeks God to meet his departed mother, and in finding the divine, learns to serve humanity with miracles of love, food and silent blessings, becoming Hanuman Ansh, Neem Karoli Baba." Neem Karoli Baba is popularly revered as Maharaj-ji among his followers.
With its India gross collection at Rs 33 crore and continuing momentum, Hanuman Ansh remains on track to cross the Rs 50-crore mark in India gross in the coming days, quietly becoming one of the most remarkable box office stories of the year.
