Rockstar Games Announces Official GTA Online Roleplaying Server, nopixel V

Rockstar Games has unveiled nopixel V, an officially sanctioned roleplaying server for Grand Theft Auto Online, marking a significant step in the company's engagement with the game's modding community. The server, developed in collaboration with the team behind the popular NoPixel custom server, is set to begin beta testing on September 8, 2026, through the Rockstar Games Launcher.

The beta will initially be restricted to a select group of players through a closed, invite-only system, with no application process currently available for regular users, as reported by TweakTown. The launch is expected to draw significant attention from GTA V roleplaying communities and livestream audiences, as invited streamers and players showcase the new server when testing begins.

A New Chapter for Roleplaying

NoPixel has long been a defining name in GTA roleplaying, developing a massive following since its inception. Rockstar has increasingly embraced this side of its player base, notably through its acquisition of the team behind the FiveM modding platform and its collaboration with NoPixel. The NoPixel team has continued to develop increasingly ambitious roleplaying experiences, with nopixel V representing another significant overhaul.

According to Rockstar, the new server features a reworked character customization system that gives roleplayers more ways than ever to create unique characters, alongside new areas of the city including the Pixel Hotel & Casino and a six-block revamp of Cypress Flats. The company described nopixel V as "the culmination of nearly 3 years of development."

One of the most notable additions for longtime fans is the completion of the Mile High Club, a building that has been under construction since the game's first reveal trailer in 2011. The building has been finished exclusively for nopixel and now serves as a hotel and casino for roleplayers, as reported by IGN Africa.

The server will be available directly through Rockstar's official launcher, eliminating the need for third-party tools or platforms. Top RP streamers are scheduled to showcase the server on September 8, offering a glimpse of the new experience.

Release Details and Future Outlook

Despite the beta announcement, Rockstar and NoPixel have not yet provided details on when a wider or open beta could begin, and there is no confirmed date for the full release of nopixel V. The announcement comes ahead of the anticipated launch of GTA 6, though Rockstar has not made any comments or announcements regarding GTA 6's online mode, as noted by IGN Africa.

The reveal underscores Rockstar's ongoing commitment to supporting community-driven content within its games, a strategy that has proven successful in extending the lifespan of GTA Online.
