Stock Surge and AGM Agenda

Shares of Rhetan TMT Limited, an Ahmedabad-based manufacturer of TMT steel bars, surged 10% to hit the upper circuit on September 2, trading at Rs. 21.05 per share on the BSE. The rise came as investor attention focused on the company's upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for September 16.

The AGM will consider a proposal to enhance the company's borrowing capacity from Rs. 200 crore to Rs. 300 crore, excluding temporary bank loans obtained in the ordinary course of business. The increase, to be approved via a Special Resolution, is aimed at providing greater financial flexibility to support business expansion and future funding requirements, according to company announcements.

Business Today reported that the higher limit would give the steelmaker additional financial flexibility to fund planned growth. The proposed increase does not mean Rhetan TMT will immediately borrow the additional Rs. 100 crore, but would allow it to raise funds as required, the report added.

Solar Project and Cost Savings

Alongside the borrowing proposal, Rhetan TMT announced it has commenced power generation from a 1 MW captive ground-mounted solar power project at its manufacturing facility in Kadi, Gujarat. The solar project is expected to enhance operational efficiency, optimise energy costs, and strengthen long-term cost competitiveness, reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainable manufacturing, as per company statements.

Energy accounts for nearly 20% of the company's overall cost base, according to Business Today. Managing Director Shalin Shah said the solar project would give the company "greater control over a key operating input" while supporting its sustainability goals.

Financial Performance and Product Portfolio

Rhetan TMT has reported profit growth at a 140% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the past five years, according to the company. The company also highlighted its Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for Fe500D, Fe550, and Fe550D TMT bars, which enables it to supply these premium higher-grade bars to government and PSU infrastructure projects across India.

The company's expanded portfolio of higher-grade TMT bars is expected to support long-term growth and reinforce its presence in the premium steel segment, according to the announcements.
