The Sanmar Group, a Chennai-based industrial conglomerate, has acquired a majority stake in AltEons Energy, a renewable energy platform headquartered in Hyderabad. The investment amount was not disclosed, but the transaction makes AltEons a subsidiary of the Sanmar Group, according to reports from The Economic Times and The Hindu Business Line.

Investment to fund hybrid project and pipeline expansion

AltEons founder and CEO Srinivasan Viswanathan told The Economic Times that the investment will help the company develop its initial 210 MW wind-solar-battery storage hybrid project in Maharashtra and build out a larger project pipeline. The company is currently working on an under-construction pipeline of a 210 MW hybrid portfolio (wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems) in Maharashtra, as reported by The Hindu Business Line.

The capital will also go towards securing an additional 800 MW pipeline by the end of the year, which will help the company scale its next phase of growth, Viswanathan said, as quoted by The Hindu Business Line. He added that the company wanted an investor or partner not just for capital support but for strong trust.

AltEons currently has a further pipeline of around 750 MW under development and expects to have visibility to projects of nearly 5 GW over the next three years, according to The Economic Times. The company plans to add another 800 MW to its pipeline by the end of this year. The projects will comprise a mix of state transmission utility (STU) open-access, group captive, and central transmission utility (CTU) projects, across Maharashtra and other states.

Focus on round-the-clock renewable power

AltEons is scaling its integrated renewable energy platform combining solar, wind, energy storage, and advanced energy management solutions to provide round-the-clock (RTC) clean power to corporate and industrial (C&I) consumers, as reported by The Hindu Business Line. The company works with customers across manufacturing, automotive, data centres, and industrial engineering, among others. These customers are seeking long-term, sustainable energy solutions that support their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments.

Maharashtra is expected to remain a key market for the company, given its large commercial and industrial customer base and availability of both wind and solar resources, according to The Economic Times. AltEons is also evaluating Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, while Andhra Pradesh is another market it is watching due to its growing industrial and data centre activity.
