Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G Teased for India Launch
Redmi India has begun teasing a new 'Max' smartphone in its Note lineup, signaling the arrival of a high-end Note variant in the country. While the company has not announced the device's name or launch date, the teaser suggests that an announcement is imminent, as reported by Livemint. Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G in India, and has launched a dedicated landing page for the phone on its India site, according to Times Now.
The handset is widely expected to be the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, which has already debuted in a few international markets, including Japan, per Livemint. Times Now reports that the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G was launched in select international markets in August. Neither outlet reports an official India launch date; Times Now notes that the company has not revealed the exact launch date or release timeline.
Known Specifications from the Global Variant
While Xiaomi has not confirmed specifications for the India version, the global model offers a reference point. According to both Livemint and Times Now, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max features a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 3,500 nits. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, per both outlets, with up to 512GB of storage and, as Times Now adds, 8GB of RAM. The phone runs HyperOS 3, based on Android 16, selon Times Now. Livemint also notes a touch sampling rate of 3,200Hz.
The battery isa standout feature. Both sources report a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired fast charging. Livemint additionally mentions support for27W reverse charging. Times Now highlights IP66 and IP68 water-and-dust resistance ratings. Livemint adds Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and says the phone is said to be 3-metre drop resistant.
For cameras, both outlets list a 50MP primary sensor with optical image stabilisation(OIS), an 8MP ultrawide lens, anda 32MP front camera. Times Now reports that both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording at 30fps. Connectivity options, per Times Now, include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC.

Neither source reports confirmed India pricing. The company has not confirmed Indian prices, according to Times Now, which notes that global pricing could indicate positioning. In Japan, Times Now reports, the 8GB/256GB model is priced at JPY79,980(approximately RS47,900), while the 8GB/512GB model costs JPY99,980(approximately RS59,900).
Livemint attributes some speculation to tipster Yogesh Brar, who had guessed that the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max would be released in India on 15 September. Brar also stated the new Pro models could cost ₹5,000 to 8,000 more than previous models. Livemint notes that for comparison, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is expected to be priced at₹37,999 in India, suggesting the Note 17 Pro Max might enter the ₹40,000+ segment—though Redmi has not confirmed such information.
