GDP growth surpasses RBI estimate
The services sector data was released alongside India's latest gross domestic product (GDP) figures. India's real GDP grew 7.8% year-on-year in the April-June quarter of FY27, exceeding the Reserve Bank of India's earlier estimate of 7% for the period.
Real GDP stood at ₹81.36 lakh crore in the first quarter of FY27, compared with ₹75.46 lakh crore in the same quarter a year earlier. Nominal GDP, which measures economic output at current prices without adjusting for inflation, rose 10.3% year-on-year to ₹88.27 lakh crore from ₹80 lakh crore in Q1 FY26.
The central bank has raised its full-year GDP growth forecast for FY27 to 6.7%, up from its earlier estimate of 6.6%.
