Arrest in Las Vegas
Rapper Famous Dex was arrested in Las Vegas on Sunday, August 23, and booked on a battery/domestic violence charge, according to Clark County booking records filed under his legal name, Dexter Gore. The arrest was first reported by TMZ, which noted that official records show the rapper was taken into custody on Sunday. At the time of publication, TMZ said Dex appeared to still be in a Las Vegas jail.
The circumstances of the alleged incident remain unclear. Neither HotNewHipHop nor TMZ reported what led to the arrest or identified the person involved. As of Tuesday, August 25, no additional details had been publicly reported, and Dex's representatives had not responded to requests for comment. No next court appearance had been announced.
Prior Legal Troubles
The Las Vegas arrest is Dex's latest encounter with the law. In March 2021, prosecutors charged him with 19 counts connected to three separate incidents, including domestic violence, firearm offenses, and a traffic stop in which police said they found a loaded firearm. According to TMZ, two of the allegedly violent incidents involved his ex-girlfriends.
Dex pleaded not guilty to those charges during a June 2021 court appearance, but was taken into custody after authorities alleged he had violated a protective order issued in connection with one of the cases. A judge set bond at $200,000 at the time.
In September 2021, Dex was sentenced to 364 days in a Los Angeles jail, with credit for time already served. TMZ reported that he then went to rehab as soon as he was released.
A Turn Toward Sobriety
In an interview with TMZ before the new arrest, Dex said he was 11 months sober and promoted the latest installment in his album series with Rich The Kid and Jay Critch.
