A Grateful Reflection on a Career Turning Point

In a documentary aired on Reliance Updates, Ranveer Singh spoke candidly about the journey of his blockbuster films 'Dhurandhar' and 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', crediting the Ambani family for their steadfast support during a challenging period in his career. The actor described his association with the family as "a blessing, an honour and a stroke of good fortune," and expressed gratitude for the encouragement he received even when his films were not performing well.

“I received immense love, support, and encouragement, even when my films weren't doing well,” Singh said in the documentary, titled 'Parvah Hai Toh Parivar Hai'. He added that the faith shown in him during a difficult professional phase made his association with the project particularly meaningful.

The documentary, which marks the first time Singh has spoken about 'Dhurandhar', also featured Jyoti Deshpande, President of Jio Studios, discussing the scale of the production. Deshpande revealed that the makers knew from the outset that the budget would exceed initial estimates, leading to the decision to shoot both parts of the franchise simultaneously.

The Dhurandhar Franchise's Box-Office Success

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the first instalment, 'Dhurandhar', released in 2025 and proved to be a major box-office success. India TV News reported that the film earned Rs 1,056.62 crore in India and Rs 293.03 crore overseas, with a worldwide total of Rs 1,350.83 crore.

The sequel, 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', released on March 19, 2026, reportedly grossed more than Rs 1,852 crore worldwide, including Rs 1,361 crore from India and Rs 475.93 crore from overseas markets, according to India TV News. The Times of India reported that the two-part saga has collectively crossed Rs 3,000 crore at the global box office, making it one of the biggest theatrical successes in Indian cinema.

Singh acknowledged the challenges of mounting such an ambitious project. “Making or working on 'Dhurandhar' was not an easy task; it involved numerous challenges,” he said, adding that the team had to proceed with conviction, believing that if the film succeeded, they would break new ground.

What's Next: Pralay

Following the success of 'Dhurandhar', Singh has already moved on to his next project. He is currently shooting for 'Pralay', a survival drama directed by Jai Mehta, set in a near-future Mumbai amid a deadly pandemic followed by a zombie outbreak. The film marks Singh's debut as a producer and brings him together with Kalyani Priyadarshan, who gained recognition with 'Lokah Chapter 1: Corruption'.

While the documentary focused on his professional journey, The Times of India also noted personal milestones, reporting that Singh and his wife are set to welcome another child, with their daughter Dua mentioned.

As the 'Dhurandhar' franchise continues to dominate headlines, Singh's reflections in the documentary offer a glimpse into the resilience and support that shaped his recent success.
