New Allegations
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is facing new allegations of abuse and neglect from his ex-girlfriend, Hallee Aiono, who is also the mother of his child. Aiono made the claims in a TikTok video that she later took down, according to Fox News – World.
In the video, Aiono described a sudden shift in her relationship with Nacua, saying, "I went from loving somebody so deeply for four years, I felt it in my bones, to experiencing extreme betrayal, abuse, complete neglect from them." She also spoke about the impact of their private struggles, stating, "A lot of the things that were public affected my mental health. But honestly, the things that were happening in private are what completely crushed me and altered my brain chemistry. Those parts, what people never saw or knew of, are what broke me."
Essentially Sports also reported Aiono's allegations, noting that she said she experienced "the darkest, darkest days of my life in the last year and a half" during her pregnancy with her and Nacua's son. The outlet added that Aiono and Nacua began dating in college and broke up after four years together.
Offseason Turmoil
The new allegations come amid a turbulent offseason for Nacua, who led the NFL in receptions last season with 129 catches and 1,715 receiving yards. In March, Nacua was named in a civil lawsuit filed by Madison Atiabi following a New Year's Eve party. The filing accused him of biting Atiabi's shoulder, biting another woman's thumb, and directing an anti-Semitic slur at a guest, as reported by Fox News – World.
Nacua's attorney, Levi McCathern, strongly denied the allegations and characterized the legal action as an extortion attempt. "Puka denies these allegations in the strongest possible terms," McCathern said. "Our office was contacted with demands of millions of dollars in exchange for not publicizing these allegations. This is not a legitimate claim. It is blackmail."
McCathern also denied the alleged slur, citing a "completely sober witness" who said Nacua never made the comments, and characterized the alleged biting incidents as "horseplay."
Nacua voluntarily entered a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles in early March, before Atiabi's allegations became public. His attorney said the program was intended to help him focus on his personal growth. Essentially Sports reported that Nacua checked himself into rehab after the incident and has said he is committed to a better way of life.
Contract and League Review
Nacua, a fourth-year receiver, was reportedly on track to become the NFL's next $150 million receiver. He recently hired WIN Sports Group to negotiate a new deal, but the Rams reportedly do not expect to extend him before the season. The team appears prepared to wait for more clarity in his legal situation and evidence of sustained personal growth before committing top-of-market money, according to Fox News – World. Nacua's production gives him leverage, but unresolved allegations and a potential suspension make a $150 million commitment a much tougher sell for the Rams.
The Rams need Nacua during the season because of his talent catching passes from Stafford, as reported by Essentially Sports. The NFL is reviewing Nacua's conduct under its Personal Conduct Policy, which allows the league to discipline players even when criminal charges are not filed. Essentially Sports reported that Nacua was expected to be on the commissioner's exempt list on Sunday and that the league has not yet announced a suspension decision. The case remains under review.
