September 2026 Premium Bonds Results
NS&I has announced the winners of the September 2026 Premium Bonds draw. As reported by the Daily Mirror, two £1 million prizes were awarded this month, one to a winner in London and the other to a winner in Norwich.
The London winner purchased their winning bond 659VC982054 in January 2026, just eight months before the draw, and holds £45,500 in Premium Bonds. The Norwich winner holds the maximum £50,000 in Premium Bonds and bought their winning bond 484QT130447 in January 2022.
In addition to the top prizes, the Daily Mirror reported that a holder with just £120 invested won £100,000, with their winning bond 107TC865778 purchased in March 2006. Another person won £100,000 with only £800 saved, and someone with just £100 invested won £50,000.
Birmingham Winners
Birmingham also saw significant success in the September draw. Birmingham Live reported that two £100,000 prizes were won by customers in the city. One winning bond, 606MA177982, was purchased in December 2024, when the customer bought £2,925 in Bonds, and they held £3,225 in total going into the draw. The other £100,000 prize went to a long-time saver who has held Premium Bonds for more than 20 years, with bond 35MG366933 bought in July 2001, when they purchased £2,000 in Bonds. That customer held £49,994 in Bonds going into the September draw.
In total, Birmingham had 15 prizes of £10,000 or more, including additional prizes of £50,000, £25,000, and £10,000, as detailed by Birmingham Live.
Changes to Odds and Prize Fund Rate
NS&I has made changes to the odds of winning. According to Birmingham Live, from the September draw, the odds of each £1 being paired with a prize improved from 22,000 to one to 21,000 to one. This follows a previous improvement from the July draw, when the chances of a win increased from 23,000 to one to 22,000 to one.
The prize fund rate has also risen from 3.80% to 4.35%, as reported by the Daily Mirror. The maximum amount that can be held in Premium Bonds is £50,000, and each £1 Bond has an equal chance of winning in the monthly draw. The smallest monthly prize is £25, and the largest is £1 million, though not every holder wins a prize each month.
How Premium Bonds Work
Premium Bonds are a savings product offered by NS&I, which is backed by the Treasury. Instead of earning interest, bondholders are entered into a monthly prize draw. For every £1 invested, a unique bond number is assigned, and new purchases must be held for one full calendar month before being entered into the draw. Winners are notified by email or post.
