Pixar's animated hit 'Cars' is set to return to the big screen for its 20th anniversary, with screenings beginning September 4. The theatrical rerelease coincides with Lightning McQueen Day on September 5, a nod to the character's iconic number 95.
The film, which first raced into theaters in 2006, will be celebrated with a series of special events and activations throughout the year, according to a report from ANI, which cited a preview of the lineup.
A Year of Celebrations
The anniversary festivities include special screenings at the Tee-Pee Drive-In and Tulsa Circle Cinema, as reported by ANI. Additionally, fans can look forward to a life-size Lightning McQueen and a "Cars"-wrapped Mercedes safety car at the Formula 1 Gran Premio D'Italia at Monza in September, where the "Cars Collection for Formula 1" will be available for purchase.
The celebration extends into motorsports, with an activation planned with NASCAR at the Daytona 500 in February, ANI added.

"Cars" introduced viewers to Lightning McQueen, a "hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed," as described in the film's official synopsis.
