Recovery Update from Family
Perez Hilton remains hospitalized in Miami, recovering from broken bones and other physical injuries sustained during a mental health crisis that was livestreamed on TikTok, according to his brother-in-law, Tom, who spoke on The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker.
Tom, married to Hilton's youngest sister, said the celebrity blogger is still being treated for cuts and numerous broken bones caused by falling multiple times during the night of the incident. Up until about 48 hours before the podcast's recording, Hilton's treatment focused on these physical issues; the care is now transitioning to focus on his mental health, Tom explained.
The incident occurred on Aug. 4, and was streamed for 30 minutes before being removed from the platform. According to Tom, Hilton's children were in the home moments before the incident and were rushed to safety before paramedics arrived. Hilton was treated for an overdose following the stream.

Tom framed the event against Hilton's recent impulsive relocation from Las Vegas to Miami, following a sepsis health scare earlier in the year. The move was meant to bring him closer to family, who could support him in raising his three children. Tom noted that while Hilton can be impulsive, the family "had never had a situation with him as serious, medically, as that sepsis situation."
He added that doctors have discovered other issues connected to Hilton's earlier struggle with sepsis. On the podcast, Tom and host Chris Booker also discussed the possibility that sepsis-related psychosis contributed to the crisis, though they acknowledged that theory is speculative.
Recovery and Family Situation
Hilton is reportedly "lucid" and in contact with family through the hospital's nurses' station, as he is not permitted electronics in his room. He has not seen his children since the incident, as they are not allowed in the hospital section where he is being treated. According to Tom, during the incident Hilton believed he was acting in his children's best interests, but his family has since told him otherwise.
On Aug. 7, Hilton's mother, Teresita Lavandeira, filed for temporary custody of his children, Mario, 13; Mia, 11; and Mayte, 8. Tom said Teresita has always been a motherly figure to the children.
The legal mechanism that kept Hilton in the hospital, the Baker Act, has expired, and the next step is his transfer to a mental health facility. Tom said there is no set timeline for his recovery, stating, "However long that takes... is however long that takes. I don't think you're going to see him pop up in a few days."
