Appointment announced

Parle Biscuits, one of India's largest biscuit and confectionery makers, has appointed George Kovoor as its first chief executive officer. Kovoor, who spent more than three decades at PepsiCo, will take charge on September 1, as reported by The Economic Times and CNBC TV18. The appointment is aimed at strengthening the company's top leadership as it seeks to drive its next phase of growth.

Ajay Chauhan, managing director of Parle Biscuits, said in a statement: "We welcome George and look forward to working closely with him to build on Parle's strong foundation, strengthen our capabilities and open new opportunities for sustainable growth."

Chauhan also said: "As our business continues to evolve with the changing needs of Indian consumers, his ability to drive results, develop talent and navigate complex markets will be invaluable."

Kovoor's background

Kovoor joins Parle after a career spanning more than 30 years at PepsiCo, where he held several senior leadership roles across India, China, Hong Kong and global operations, according to CNBC TV18. His most recent role at PepsiCo was Senior Vice President and General Manager, India Beverages, a position he held from January 2022 to March 2025. Earlier this year, Kovoor founded and became a partner at Ask GeKo Advisory LLP, a strategic advisory firm focused on consumer goods, food and beverage, private equity and B2B sectors, as reported by CNBC TV18.

His experience in managing consumer-facing businesses and navigating different markets is expected to strengthen Parle's leadership team and support its efforts to expand domestic operations and grow its international business, according to Free Press Journal.

Parle was founded in 1929 in Mumbai's Vile Parle. The company operates in the biscuits and confectionery segments, with brands including Parle-G, Monaco, KrackJack, Hide & Seek and Melody. Parle-G is counted among the world's highest-selling biscuit brands by volume, according to multiple reports.

Parle has one of India's largest distribution networks, covering more than 75 lakh (7.5 million) retail outlets across the country. The company has also expanded its international presence, with products available in several markets across Asia and Africa, as reported by Free Press Journal.

The appointment comes as Parle looks to strengthen its established brands, improve its capabilities and pursue sustainable growth in India and overseas markets, according to Free Press Journal.
