Orlando Bloom's Sudden Exit
Orlando Bloom has exited the indie survival thriller "Reset" just days before cameras were scheduled to roll, as reported by TMZ and The Times of India. Bloom, who was set to star alongside Priyanka Chopra as the male lead, had been attached to the project as a co-star and co-producer and remained involved throughout pre-production. His departure, which came as production was about to begin, has reportedly left the cast and crew frustrated.
Sources on the film told TMZ that the situation feels particularly upsetting because Bloom's star power played an important role in getting the independent project financed. His attachment, alongside Chopra, also made it easier to secure an international distributor, a point emphasised in reports from the entertainment news outlet. The sentiment among those working on the film is that, while Bloom may not have needed the paycheck, many others on the project do.
The Search for a Replacement
According to both reports, filmmakers are now considering three potential replacements for Bowl. A decision is expected to be made quickly to keep the production schedule on track, with a decision soon. Chopra, who also serves as a producer on the film, is expected to have a significant say in selecting Bloom's replacement, though the reports also suggest that the project itself may not be salvageable.
The film, which was being mounted as a survival thriller, revolves around a woman (played by Chopra) who wakes up in an wilderness with no memory of how she got there. Her only chance for survival is to trust the charming stranger, Bloom's character—a man who may not be who he claims to be.
Chopra's Current Work Commitments
Beyond "Reset," Chopra is reportedly nearing the end of her shoot for "Varanasi," directed by SS RajaMouli and starring Mahesh Babu. That film, according to The Times of India, has a budget of Rs 1,200 crore and is slated for an April 2027 release.
