IDF Apprehends Stabbing Suspect in Al-Auja
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday the capture of a suspect linked to a recent stabbing attack in the Al-Auja area of the Jordan Valley. According to a statement posted on X, the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) confirmed that the arrest was made possible through targeted intelligence guidance and coordinated operational measures.
"APPREHENDED: The terrorist who executed the stabbing attack in the Al-Auja area. The suspect's apprehension was made possible through intelligence guidance and measures employed by the IDF & the ISA," the IDF wrote.
The suspect, described as a 16-year-old Palestinian, was located within al-Auja and transferred to the Shin Bet security agency for interrogation. The arrest follows a stabbing attack on Sunday morning along a highway near the West Bank village of al-Auja, approximately eight kilometers north of Jericho.
Victim Treated for Moderate Injuries
The victim of the stabbing, identified by family members as a 24-year-old Israeli man, sustained moderate injuries including a broken shoulder and internal bleeding. He was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, where his brothers Yosef and Shlomo Hananaya provided updates on his condition. The attack occurred after the victim stopped to shop at stores near Al-Auja, according to reports.
Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical service, confirmed the evacuation and treatment.
IDF Continues Manhunt for Second Attacker
Following the stabbing, authorities established blockades in the area and deployed several military units to search for the attacker, who fled the scene. The IDF said it is in ongoing contact with residents and security officials in the area as the manhunt continues.
Separate Strike Eliminates Hamas Commander
In a separate security development, the IDF conducted precision strikes targeting Ismail Abu Ful, described as a Hamas commander at a weapons manufacturing site within the group's production headquarters. According to the IDF, Abu Ful was actively involved in manufacturing explosive devices and anti-tank rockets for Hamas' military wing. The targeted facility was reportedly located near an aid distribution point operated by an international organization.
"These actions demonstrate how Hamas systematically violates the ceasefire agreement while attempting to rehabilitate its military capabilities," the IDF said in a statement.
Strikes on Southern Lebanon Reportedly Kill 11
In related regional developments, Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon killed 11 people, including three children and two women from the same family, according to reports. The strikes targeted the towns of Ansar and Deir ez-Zahrani in the Nabatieh district, with seven deaths reported in Ansar and four in Deir ez-Zahrani. Several others were injured.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a warning following the strikes, though details of the warning were not immediately available.
