Death of Lusaka Model and Socialite Lisa Mutambo

Lisa Mutambo, a 25-year-old Zambian model and socialite, died in the early hours of Thursday, 20 August 2026, after collapsing at her residence in Lusaka's Kalundu area. According to reports from Legit News and Yen News, her death was reported to Chelstone Police Station at approximately 09:30 hours, with police stating she died between 03:30 and 04:30 hours at Victoria Hospital.

Police deputy spokesperson Chipo Kaitisha detailed the events leading up to her death. Mutambo spent the evening of 19 August with two female friends at a hotel in Lusaka, where she served as a brand ambassador. The group left the venue around 22:30 hours and moved on to another drinking spot in the city.

Final Hours and Collapse

Between 02:30 and 03:00 hours, Mutambo's boyfriend, identified by Yen News as Caleb Lisa, also known as Andrea, with a Facebook name Andrew Chimba, arrived and collected the three women. He dropped the two friends off in the Minestone/Casanova area before taking Mutambo to her residence in Kalundu.

Shortly after arriving home, Mutambo began vomiting and lost consciousness. Her boyfriend contacted a friend, and together they rushed her to Victoria Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Legit News reported that police noted no physical injuries were visible on her body, a statement made in direct response to claims circulating on social media that she had been beaten to death by her boyfriend.

Police firmly disputed the beating allegations, with Yen News reporting that officers found no physical injuries, contradicting the viral social media claims. Both outlets reported that investigators processed both primary and secondary scenes as part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigation and Postmortem

Police have opened an inquiry file into the death, and Mutambo's body was initially held at FSG Mortuary before being transferred to University Teaching Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination. According to both sources, the postmortem is expected to provide answers regarding the cause of death, as police continue their investigation.

Social media has been rife with speculation about the circumstances of her death, with some users commenting on potential causes. However, both Legit News and Yen News noted that police have refuted the beating claims, emphasizing that no physical injuries were found.
