Odell Beckham Jr. has made the Giants' 53-man roster, marking his first time with the team since 2018. Beckham, who was still wearing No. 3 at Monday's practice, expressed hope that he will soon be able to wear his old No. 13 jersey again. The number has been worn by Jalin Hyatt for the past three seasons, but Hyatt was waived and signed to the practice squad during the roster cuts.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Beckham said, "I think we all know what that means to me. There definitely will be some conversations. I'll just say we'll see what happens. But like I said, it would be an honor and a privilege to put that back on." The quote was captured by Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic.

Jersey Number Negotiations

Beckham's return to No. 13 is not yet official. He has been wearing No. 3 during the preseason, a number that belongs to linebacker Abdul Carter. Hyatt, who is not currently on the 53-man roster, still holds No. 13. Beckham indicated he plans to discuss the number with Hyatt, though he gave no timeline for a resolution.

The Giants did not claim any players off waivers on Monday, and they built the bulk of their practice squad from their Sunday cuts. Hyatt was among those moves. In a separate transaction, the New England Patriots claimed Darius Muasau off waivers from the Giants.

Emotional Return

Beckham's return has been an emotional one. He said he had "tears" when he got back to the hotel after finding out Sunday that he had made the team. Head coach John Harbaugh shared that co-owner John Mara was among those in the organization happy to have Beckham back.

"Mr. Mara, he said his grandsons were super happy," Harbaugh said. "They've been asking him kinda every day, 'Is Odell gonna make it? Is Odell gonna make it?' And I think Mr. Mara's happy. He has a great relationship with Odell, and the people who were here know the whole history … It seems to me that the Maras and the people who were here before are excited for Odell."

Beckham said he was grateful for the opportunity, adding, "I have an opportunity to rewrite some of the last bit of the chapter. Don't know [if it's my] last year, whatever it is, I just know I'm going to give my all."

Looking Ahead

The Giants have two more practices scheduled through Wednesday. The team is preparing for its season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, and Beckham is expected to take the field on Sept. 13, according to the New York Daily News. Whether he will be wearing No. 13 remains to be seen, but his conversations with Hyatt could settle the matter soon.
