US Strike on Wedding in Iran's Sirik: Casualty Figures Rise to 68 Injured

At least 68 people were injured and five killed in a US strike that hit a wedding ceremony in the Iranian city of Sirik, according to reports from the Fars agency citing a representative of the Red Crescent. The strike, which occurred near the coastal area on the Strait of Hormuz, also wounded many children, according to the same source. The injured have been taken to hospitals in Sirik and Minab.

Earlier reports from Iranian authorities cited by India Today put the death toll at five, including a four-year-old child, with 50 others wounded. The discrepancy in injury figures may reflect ongoing updates as rescue operations continue.

Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson condemned the attack in a statement, saying, "This cruelty cannot be separated from the chain of atrocities that preceded it." The spokesperson referenced a blast at a girls' school in Minab that killed 160 people on the first day of the current war.

The United States Central Command reported a series of strikes on targets in Iran, according to TASS. Press TV also reported explosions on Iran's southern coast, including on Qeshm Island and in several cities.

This is a developing story.
