North West, the 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, is making headlines with her latest cover shoot for Dazed magazine, where she shows off blue hair, piercings, and grills while opening up about her personal style and the boundaries her parents have set.
In the interview, North said her look is driven by a simple desire: “All I want is blue hair and piercings.” She credited her neon hair color to Japanese virtual pop star Hatsune Miku, calling her “my twin for real.” When asked about her favorite feature of the digital idol, she said it’s “her blue twin tails, of course,” adding, “That’s always the inspo. Blue hair or nothing? Maybe I’ll do black in it one day.”
North also discussed her mix of piercings, noting that she wears both faux and real pieces. “They just make you your full self,” she said. However, there is one piercing she hasn’t been permitted to get: a bridge piercing, which runs through the skin on the upper nose between the eyes. “I really want to get my bridge pierced, but I’m not allowed,” she shared.
Her mother, Kim Kardashian, 45, was present for the shoot. Kardashian has previously defended North’s style choices, addressing critics during a January episode of Khloé Kardashian’s “Khloé in Wonderland” podcast. “I’m not a judgmental person like that, so I try not to pay attention to it,” she said. “Northie actually has a lot of rules, [but] the one area is I do let her express herself and I do let her do that. I love her for that.” She noted that North has worn a “fake septum ring” since first grade.
Kardashian also recounted an incident from November 2025 during an episode of Complex’s “GOAT Talk” YouTube series, when North responded to critics after wearing fake tattoos and piercings for Halloween. “Her and her girlfriends, they love doing costumes, they love doing looks, and so, it’s Halloween season, so they put on fake tattoos on their face, fake piercings, they all had their colored hair,” Kardashian explained. “They looked like an opium Powerpuff Girls … [that’s] what they were going for.” North reportedly wrote back to a critic, calling the backlash “such a non-issue,” a response Kardashian quipped was a “good clapback.”
In the Dazed interview, North also touched on her budding music career, saying she has released her first solo single. When asked about the worst advice she’d received, she said it was “to start my career later.” She added, “It’s like, nah, this is my hobby, this is what I like to do, this is what I wanna do with my life.”
North’s public persona has evolved over the years. Two years ago, she told I-D magazine she wanted to be a basketball player, describing herself as “the best ever” and her own style icon. She also appeared on the cover of Interview magazine in an interview conducted by her mother, where she said she wished she could pause time to “get work done, go to Starbucks and Japan.”
In the Dazed shoot, North also commented on her peers, stating, “Everyone’s in love with boys, vaping and doing all kinds of bad stuff.”
