BKB's First Newcastle Event

BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing will hold its first-ever event in Tyneside on Saturday, October 10, with BKB 60 taking place at the Utilita Arena Newcastle. The card will be headlined by North Shields native Mick Terrill, who faces Kamil Sokolowski in the main event.

Terrill, a former BKB heavyweight champion, has an 11-2 bare-knuckle record with 10 knockouts. The 42-year-old returned to BKB earlier this year after a stint with rival promotion BKFC, and this bout marks his second since coming back. In July, he defeated Florian De La Motte.

In comments reported by the Evening Chronicle, Terrill spoke of his excitement at fighting in front of his home crowd: "There's nothing like fighting in front of my own people. Newcastle has seen me become a world champion once, in this very arena, and now I get to push closer to my world title shot once again wearing BKB colours."

Terrill also made clear his intention to deliver a memorable performance: "Kamil's tough and durable, but I'm going to give this crowd a knockout they'll be talking about for years. Once I knock him out, I want my shot at Gustavo for the title."

Sokolowski, whose BKB record stands at 3-1, is a heavyweight who has previously faced notable gloved opponents including Dillian Whyte, Martin Bakole, David Price, Lucas Browne, David Adeleye, Bakhodir Jalolov, and Frazer Clarke. He told the Evening Chronicle: "Mick's the hometown favourite, but this is my chance to silence the crowd and prove I belong at the top of this division."

In the co-main event, Rolando "Dy Incredible" Dy will defend his BKB Super Welterweight World Championship title against Scott "The Mute" McHugh.

A Veteran's Return

Terrill's path back to BKB has been a central storyline. In an exclusive interview with KO On SI, as reported by Sports Illustrated, Terrill explained his decision to leave BKFC and rejoin BKB, citing both loyalty and financial reasons: "There was a little place in my heart for them, as I used to fight for them, but definitely the money."

He also expressed ambition beyond Saturday's fight: "I want to win the world title. Nobody comes back to be number two, do they? They want to be number one. The plan has always been Trujillo." Gustavo "The Cuban Assassin" Trujillo is the current BKB champion, holding an 8-0 bare-knuckle record and a 12-0 professional boxing record.

Terrill also touched on his personal life and the demands of his sport. He described bare-knuckle boxing as "an older man's game" and emphasized the importance of media coverage in attracting new fighters. He spoke of spending time with his grandchild, with two more on the way, and visits to Beamish Museum in County Durham.

Tickets for BKB 60 go on sale Monday, August 24. David Tetreault, CEO of BKB, said: "Newcastle has always been one of the most passionate fight cities in the country, and BKB 60 is exactly the kind of card this crowd deserves."

With a hometown hero in the main event and a world title defense on the undercard, the October 10 card is expected to draw significant local attention as BKB makes its debut in the region.
