A Light-Hearted Sibling Rivalry Goes Viral

A playful debate over which Kamath brother is more handsome has entertained social media users and showcased the lighter side of Zerodha's leadership. The exchange began when Dinesh Pai, Vice President of Zerodha Online, took to X (formerly Twitter) with a seemingly candid remark: "Don't tell Nithin I said this, but Nikhil is better looking." Pai added that choosing Nikhil was the "natural choice" for certain posts, in response to a social media user pointing out that a post about Nithin Kamath featured a photo of Nikhil instead.

The comment sparked a chain of reactions, with Nithin Kamath, Zerodha's founder and CEO, discovering his colleague's preference. In his own post on X, Nithin wrote: "I just found out that a disloyal member on my team thinks @nikhilkamathcio is much more handsome than me, so I decided to change the photo on the website to just keep Nik under my name." His post included a screenshot of his bio on the Zerodha website, which described his journey of bootstrapping and founding the brokerage in 2010 after a decade as a trader, his membership in SEBI's Secondary Market Advisory Committee and Market Data Advisory Committee, and his love for basketball. However, the bio's photograph was not of Nithin but of his younger brother Nikhil.

Pai later responded to Nithin's post with a sarcastic thank-you to the Zerodha team for ensuring Nithin saw the comment first thing in the morning, and he joked about seeing his boss in the office, as reported by The Economic Times.

The Kamath Brothers and Zerodha's Rise

Nikhil Kamath, Nithin's younger brother, is the co-founder of Zerodha, a brokerage the siblings established in 2010. The company has since grown into one of India's largest stockbroking platforms, a detail noted by India Today in its coverage of the exchange.

The brothers' professional partnership has been well-documented, but this incident highlights a more personal, humorous dynamic between them, drawing reactions from social media users who enjoyed the playful banter between the two entrepreneurs.
