Investigation Reveals Link Between Arrested Official and Coaching Class Director

Mumbai Police's investigation into the alleged Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Drug Inspector examination paper leak has uncovered a connection between arrested MPSC official Gopal Marathe and accused Pravin Patil, the director of Kautilya Classes. According to information emerging during the investigation, Marathe was reportedly a former student of Patil's coaching classes.

Police suspect that Patil may have leaked the examination paper with the help of Marathe. Investigators have found that Patil and Marathe were allegedly in regular contact, and both are reportedly from the same village, raising questions about their relationship and alleged coordination.

According to the investigation, police suspect that Marathe collected money from Patil and passed it on to two other MPSC officials. Marathe is also suspected of facilitating the transfer of the examination paper to Patil. The Crime Branch is examining financial transactions and communication between the accused to establish the sequence of events.

Investigators also suspect that Patil may have attempted to access or leak question papers of other examinations through Marathe. The Crime Branch is examining whether the alleged network extended beyond the Drug Inspector examination to other competitive exams.

Arrest of Beneficiary Rutuja Patil

Rutuja Patil, the alleged beneficiary in the paper leak case, has been taken into custody from Nandurbar by the Property Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch, according to the latest update in the investigation. Patil was allegedly provided the leaked examination paper by her boyfriend, Gaurav Rajendra Patil, to help her clear the Drug Inspector examination.

The Crime Branch had earlier issued a notice to Rutuja Patil in connection with the case. Both Rutuja and Gaurav are residents of Nandurbar district.

How the Leak Came to Light

The Drug Inspector examination was conducted on March 22. A day before the results were declared, the MPSC received an email from Gaurav Rajendra Patil claiming that the question paper had been leaked. The MPSC subsequently approached the Mumbai Police, following which the investigation was handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch.

According to Crime Branch sources, Gaurav had allegedly arranged the examination paper and provided it to Rutuja and some other candidates. Investigators found that the leaked paper allegedly contained 294 questions, of which 77 appeared in the actual examination.

Rutuja's Rank and the Breakup

According to the investigation, Rutuja reportedly cleared the Drug Inspector examination and secured the 11th rank. However, before the results were officially declared, Rutuja and Gaurav allegedly broke up. Investigators suspect that the breakup played a role in Gaurav subsequently informing the MPSC about the alleged paper leak.

Arrests and Court Proceedings

The Crime Branch has so far arrested six other accused in connection with the case. The arrested accused were identified as Vishweshwar Dattatray Nakate, Gopal Bhatu Marathe, Abhijit Ganpatrao Lendwe, Pravin Dilip Patil, Gaurav Rajendra Patil and Amrut Namdev Patil. Amrut Patil is reportedly Rutuja's father.

The Esplanade, also known as Killa, court had remanded the arrested accused to Crime Branch custody until September 2.

Examination Cancelled

The MPSC cancelled the Drug Inspector examination, the results of which had been declared in June.
