Social media rebrand
Miley Cyrus has changed her social media handles to just "Miley," sharing a new picture of herself captioned with only her first name. The change, which has not been publicly explained by the singer, comes as she prepares to release her 10th studio album, her first since 2025's "Something Beautiful."
According to Page Six, Cyrus updated her Instagram profile and shared red-and-black photographs captioned simply "MILEY." The rebrand follows her recent move to Atlantic Records, which she signed with last month.
Career move, sources say
While Cyrus has not given a reason for dropping her last name, sources cited by Page Six clarified that it is unrelated to past family tensions and is instead a career move. This comes after Cyrus previously spoke about a difficult period following her parents' 2022 divorce, noting that family members stopped speaking to one another for a time due to divided loyalties. By mid-2025 and into 2026, Cyrus shared that she and her relatives had worked to rebuild communication and mend bridges.
Album details
Cyrus has yet to offer a release date for the upcoming album. In an interview with actress Daryl Hannah for Wonderland magazine, Cyrus described the project as a love story. "This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional," she said. "They're always layered. There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it's a reflection of where I am in my life."
According to Page Six, Cyrus previously described the album as a "layered, multi-dimensional love story" reflecting personal growth and self-love.
Personal milestones
The rebrand follows several personal milestones for Cyrus, including her engagement to producer Maxx Morando since late 2025. It also comes just days after the death of her godmother, Dolly Parton, who died last week at the age of 80.
In an Instagram post, Cyrus paid tribute to Parton, writing: "The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they'll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour and between our hearts. What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have."
