Discovery at KLIA2
An unidentified body was found inside the wheel compartment of an aircraft at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) on Thursday, Aug 27, according to multiple reports. The body, whose gender has yet to be determined, was discovered at about 6.55am in the wheel well of a flight from Tokyo, Japan, which had landed at approximately 6.30am.
Engineering personnel tasked with opening the wheel compartment made the discovery. According to reports, the staff detected a suspicious foul smell emanating from the compartment before opening it. After uncovering the body, they notified the KLIA2 police station operations room.
The body was described as being clad in jeans and a white shirt. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Forensics Unit was called to the scene to conduct further investigations.
Preliminary Findings
Preliminary investigations, as reported by Malay Mail, indicate that the victim is believed to be in their 20s and had likely been dead for more than 72 hours. No identification documents were found on the body, and further investigations are underway to establish the victim's identity and cause of death.
Both Malay Mail and the South China Morning Post reported the discovery, with consistent details on the timing, location, and circumstances of the finding. The South China Morning Post noted that police forensic personnel were later deployed to the scene.
Authorities have not yet released additional information about how the body came to be in the wheel well or the identity of the deceased. The investigation remains ongoing.
