macOS Tahoe 26.7 is Full of References to Unreleased Apple Products

Second Release Candidates for macOS Tahoe and Sequoia

Apple on Monday seeded the second release candidate (RC) for macOS Tahoe 26.7 and macOS Sequoia 15.8, according to 9to5Mac. The updates arrive just days after the first macOS 26.7 RC was found to contain references to several upcoming products.

The build number for macOS 26.7 RC 2 is 25G224, while macOS 15.8 carries build 24H20. The releases also came alongside macOS 27 Golden Gate developer beta 7, with public betas expected to follow soon.

Despite last week's leaks, 9to5Mac described macOS 26.7 as "rather uneventful," noting that it closes out the main development process for macOS 26 ahead of the release of macOS 27 Golden Gate in a few weeks. macOS Sequoia 15.8 is expected to include important security fixes, some of which will likely also be included in macOS Tahoe 26.7.

macOS 26.7 RC Code Reveals Unreleased Products

The first macOS 26.7 release candidate, seeded on Monday, contained references to more than 10 unreleased Apple products, according to MacRumors. The code, analyzed by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, includes references to devices across categories including home accessories, headphones, iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Some of the codenames had appeared in prior software updates but with new feature flags, while others were new to the code.

Home Accessories

• Home Hub (J490 and J491): There are references to Siri setup for a "J490" home accessory, previously identified as Apple's upcoming home hub. A second reference includes J491. J490 is believed to be the version with a base, while J491 is meant to be mounted on a wall.
• HomePod mini (B525): Code mentions "Argentium" has been installed on a product codenamed B525, which likely corresponds to the HomePod mini. The current HomePod mini has a B520 codename.
• Home Accessory (J229): A reference to "J229Architecture" appears, a codename for an unreleased product. J229 previously popped up in iOS 26 last December and was found by Macworld, which said it was a device with multiple sensors and the ability to detect alarm sounds and capture images. It's possible J229 is the rumored security camera or an accessory for the home hub.
• Pebble: There's a reference to "Pebble," which Bloomberg previously said was Apple's codename for the homeOS operating system that runs on the home hub.
• HomeAccessory17,2 and HomeAccessory17,3: These are new mentions of home devices, but it's not clear what they are.
• Mystery Colors: References to colors for a home accessory, possibly linked to the HomePod mini 2, the home hub, or something else. The colors are Rose Pink, Silver, Space Gray, and Starlight.
• Audio Accessory Visual Reasoning: An "audio_accessory_visual_reasoning" string could be for the home hub.

Headphones

• AirPods with Cameras (B790): B790 is the codename for AirPods with cameras, as previously identified. The code includes an image stream string, separate from the B798 project. A video found in the code shows a man holding a book up so the camera in the AirPods can see the title, with the message "With Visual Intelligence, your world becomes savable."
• Beats (B518 and B522): References to Beats products.
• AirPods Pro 4 (AirPodsPro1,4) and AirPod3,5: References to upcoming AirPods models.

iPhones

• iPhone Air 2 (V62): Expected spring 2027.
• iPhone 18 Pro (V63): Expected September.
• iPhone 18 Pro Max (V64): Expected September.
• iPhone 18 (V67): Expected spring 2027.
• iPhone Ultra (V68): Expected September.
• Foldable iPhone: The long-rumored foldable iPhone is referenced in the code.

Macs and iPads

• MacBook Pro (J804): With M6 chip, expected before end of year; the current M5 model is J704.
• iMac (J833 and J834): Per Bloomberg.
• MacBook Pro K114c, K114s, K116c, K116s: For OLED models.
• iPad mini (J510 and J511): With OLED and A19 Pro.
• MacBook and iPad mini with OLED: The first-ever models with OLED displays.

Other

• Headset (N109): Conflicting reports on second-gen Vision Pro or a cheaper version; the cheaper version reportedly canceled.
• Apple TV Remote (ATVRemote1,5): Updated Siri Remote for next-generation Apple TV.
• Apple Intelligence in China: Writing Tools references with safety alerts.
• Unknown model numbers: A3436-A3441, A3456-A3457, A3465, A3529-A3533, A3543, A3577, Device1,8234, etc.

Next-Generation Apple TV Rumors

Separately, MacRumors compiled rumors for the next Apple TV 4K, which is expected to feature at least five new capabilities. According to MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, the device will likely have an A17 Pro chip or newer, increased RAM (at least 8GB, up from 4GB), and support for Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.

9to5Mac reported that tvOS 27 will likely add Siri AI to the Apple TV 4K, citing a "com.apple.campo" string discovered when running Device Hub via Xcode in macOS 27. Prior reporting indicates "campos" is Apple's internal codename for Siri AI.

The next Apple TV is also expected to include an Apple-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and an updated Siri Remote (codenamed ATVRemote1,5).

As for launch timing, the next Apple TV could be announced at Apple's annual iPhone event in September, or at a follow-up event. Previous Apple TV generations were announced in October 2022, April 2021, September 2017, and September 2015.

What's Next

Apple's annual iPhone event takes place in September, so at least some of the new products referenced in the code could be unveiled next month. The first devices are expected in September with the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra, with a possible second fall event for Macs.

MacRumors noted that the macOS 26.7 RC code also includes references to the long-rumored foldable iPhone, an all-new Apple smart home hub, and the first-ever MacBook and iPad mini models with OLED displays.

For now, developers can install the second release candidates of macOS Tahoe 26.7 and macOS Sequoia 15.8, while 9to5Mac says it is looking into the new code and will report any noteworthy findings. MacRumors also asked readers to report any discoveries in the comments.
